Omoda has introduced the latest addition to their lineup, the Omoda 5 SHS-H. Sold alongside the petrol and EV variants, it is Omoda’s first full hybrid vehicle.

 A full hybrid (HEV) is a type of hybrid vehicle that combines an ICE motor with an electric motor, and doesn’t need plugging in. They primarily charge through regenerative braking, as well as using the combustion engine as a generator. HEVs are capable of travelling short distances on electric power only. In normal driving the electric motor will take over from the combustion engine as and when required.

Performance & Efficiency

The OMODA 5 SHS-H is a self-charging hybrid SUV designed to combine strong performance with high efficiency. It uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged hybrid engine paired with dual electric motors, delivering a total output of 224PS. This setup allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0–62 mph in 7.9 seconds while maintaining low fuel consumption and a driving range of over 650 miles.

Positioned within the compact SUV market, the SHS-H model expands the OMODA 5 range by offering a full hybrid alternative that does not require external charging, making it practical for everyday use.  The OMODA 5 SHS-H is engineered to balance power and economy. Its hybrid system intelligently switches between electric and petrol power to optimise efficiency in different driving conditions. The vehicle achieves around 53 mpg (WLTP), helping to reduce running costs without compromising on performance.

Driving Experience
The driving experience is designed to be smooth, quiet, and refined. The hybrid system prioritises electric driving at lower speeds, resulting in reduced noise and a more relaxed feel. Active and passive noise reduction technologies further enhance cabin comfort, creating an environment comparable to electric vehicles in terms of quietness. In addition, the car offers responsive acceleration and stable handling, making it suitable for both urban driving and longer motorway journeys.

Inside, the OMODA 5 SHS-H features a modern, tech-focused cabin.
