The Isuzu D-Max DL40 also features the 1.9-litre diesel engine, producing 164PS and 360Nm of torque, paired with manual or automatic transmission options. It shares the same size, structure, and off-road capability as other D-Max models, including 230mm ground clearance and strong approach and departure angles. The DL40 offers a payload of around one tonne and a towing capacity of 3,500kg, maintaining its practicality for heavy-duty use. Fuel consumption and emissions remain consistent with the rest of the range, averaging around 31–33 mpg. This model combines strong performance with additional refinement and features, making it suitable for both work and more comfortable everyday driving.

The interior is very comfortable with the leather-clad seats of the model I drove a match for any luxury saloon – the only difference being you get up to 10 cup holders – six in the front and four in the back, so if you have got a long hot day ahead, there’s plenty of drinks storage. You also get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto which isn’t quite as intuitive as some systems, but I did manage to get connected up in a few minutes.

On the outside, Bi-LED headlights with high beam assist and a welcome light enhance visibility and style. Inside and out, the DL40 is designed to effortlessly handle tough tasks. The most versatile cab configuration, seating two passengers in the front and three in the back, offers flexibility for both work and family needs. The standard-size load bed provides ample space for all your tools, while the rear ISOFIX points make it just as suitable for family use as it is for your business.
