Celebrating Motoring at Market Rasen Library

Market Rasen Library are celebrating 90 years of the driving license and classic car show. We were truly honoured to have a dedicated section within their library celebrating Duckworth Motor Group. This thoughtful recognition not only acknowledges our long-standing presence in the automotive world.

Market Rasen Library recently hosted a special celebration of motoring history that highlighted six decades of automotive heritage, and one of its most loyal and influential local contributors, Duckworth Motor Group. The library’s motoring showcase formed part of its Local History Month celebrations and coincided with 90 years of the UK driving licence, making it a meaningful tribute to both community and transport history.

As part of the exhibition, Market Rasen Library dedicated an entire section to the story of Duckworth Motor Group. The display traced the company’s development, illustrating how Duckworth grew from its modest beginnings into a major fixture in the Lincolnshire motoring world. This thoughtful recognition not only reflects Duckworth’s long-standing presence in the region, but also underlines its deep roots in the local community.

In addition to the historical display, the event brought a vibrant classic car show to the library car park. Members of the Lincolnshire Automobile Club brought along a fantastic collection of vintage vehicles, including Porsches, Triumphs, Zephyrs, and other classic models. Enthusiasts and the public alike enjoyed exploring these beautifully maintained cars, hearing stories from their owners, and swapping memories of motoring from past decades. The car show ran from 10am to 1pm, encouraging families and classic car lovers to mingle and celebrate automotive design across generations.

The motoring exhibition connected seamlessly to the library’s broader Local History Month theme. Visitors were able to explore not just Duckworth’s past, but also the rich tapestry of motoring in Lincolnshire, from the first car owners, to the first speeding fines issued nearly 130 years ago. The event was widely praised by library staff and Duckworth representatives alike. For Duckworth Motor Group, being featured in the library’s historical spotlight was a real honour, a powerful reminder of how cars and community intertwine, and how motoring continues to be an important thread in the story of Market Rasen.
