Introducing the New Range Rover Electric at Duckworth Land Rover Boston, Market Rasen and Norwich
Built in Solihull, the home of Range Rover since 1970, the first ever Range Rover Electric marks a major milestone for the brand, combining unmistakable Range Rover luxury with an advanced all-electric powertrain.
The new Range Rover Electric delivers a quiet, effortless and responsive driving experience. Twin 260kW electric motors provide V8 levels of performance, producing up to 550PS and 850Nm of torque, more torque than any Range Rover to date.
Performance is equally impressive, with Range Rover Electric accelerating from 0 to 60mph in as little as 4.3 seconds and completing 50 to 75mph in just 2.7 seconds.
Despite this performance, Range Rover Electric does not compromise on driving range. Its 118.5kWh double-stacked battery provides up to 372 miles of WLTP range.
Using a 350kW rapid DC charger, Range Rover Electric can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in around 22 minutes, while up to 137 miles of range can be added in just 10 minutes.
Following the principle of being a Range Rover first and electric second, Range Rover Electric retains the uncompromised and unmistakable design of The Original Luxury SUV.
Subtle aerodynamic enhancements, including an aerodynamically optimised grille, wheels and tailored underbody, help maximise motorway range while preserving the distinctive proportions and design characteristics associated with Range Rover.
Range Rover was engineered to accommodate electric propulsion from the outset, allowing the new electric model to retain the refinement, luxury and capability expected from the brand.
Martin Limpert, Managing Director of Range Rover, said:
“Range Rover Electric is the result of a decade of considered engineering and technological development, setting a new benchmark for The Original Luxury SUV. Electric propulsion is perfectly suited to the exquisite refinement of Range Rover, elevating the sense of calm and secluded sanctuary for occupants.
At the same time, Range Rover breadth of capability is uncompromised thanks to the combination of a powerful, adaptable electric powertrain and advanced chassis technologies that make every Range Rover peerless, accomplished and desired. We took our testing and development programmes even further than originally intended to ensure Range Rover Electric is genuinely the most accomplished Range Rover ever.”
Advanced Electric Capability
A range of new technologies enable precise control across a variety of surfaces and driving conditions.
Intelligent Driveline Dynamics, or IDD, can distribute rear torque from 100 per cent to zero per cent to help prevent loss of traction.
Integrated Traction Management, or ITM, can control motor speed within 50 milliseconds and manages slip up to 100 times quicker than an equivalent internal combustion engine vehicle.
Integrated Traction Management also works alongside the new Single Pedal mode, providing drivers with exceptional low-speed control in challenging conditions.
Range Rover Electric can smoothly pull away on slopes of up to 33 degrees, comparable to the gradient of a black diamond ski run, and can complete rolling climbs on slopes of up to 45 degrees.
Matt Becker, Vehicle Engineering Director at JLR, said:
“The defining characteristic of Range Rover Electric is its ability to perform across every surface, with effortless comfort and refinement. We’ve worked tirelessly to ensure it retains those qualities. From challenging low grip and rough terrain to smooth, high speed roads, it remains incredibly composed and refined, with a real sense of control and confidence. The responsiveness and precision of the new driveline control systems, enabled by electric propulsion, perfectly support this. We’re very proud of the result.”
Stay Connected with the New Range Rover App
Away from the vehicle, clients can remain connected to their Range Rover Electric using the new Range Rover App.
The app provides access to a suite of useful functions, allowing owners to initiate cabin purification or activate the heated steering wheel, check whether their vehicle is locked, view its live location and monitor the current battery charge status and predicted driving range.
Owners can also select and schedule charging when the vehicle is parked and plugged in, including when charging at home. This allows charging to be scheduled around lower electricity tariffs where available.
Across the UK and Europe, clients have access to more than one million public charging points.
For home charging, an elegant new optional Range Rover home charger helps ensure every journey can begin with a full charge.
