Introducing the Omoda 5 SHS-H

Looking for the efficiency of an electric vehicle without the need to plug in? The new Omoda 5 SHS-H could be the perfect answer. Omoda’s first full hybrid model combines smart electric technology with petrol power to deliver effortless, efficient driving for both short trips and long journeys.

Omoda has introduced the latest addition to their lineup, the Omoda 5 SHS-H. Sold alongside the petrol and EV variants, it is Omoda’s first full hybrid vehicle.

A full hybrid (HEV) is a type of hybrid vehicle that combines an ICE motor with an electric motor, and doesn’t need plugging in. They primarily charge through regenerative braking, as well as using the combustion engine as a generator. HEVs are capable of travelling short distances on electric power only. In normal driving the electric motor will take over from the combustion engine as and when required.

The new hybrid engine combines a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine, described as the most efficient petrol engine in its segment, with dual electric motors and a 1.8kWh traction battery. This combination allows for 10 consecutive seconds of maximum power delivery, and produces 224PS. The instant electric response and seamless transition back and forth between electric and gasoline powered driving provides the driver with a natural, calm drive, always in control.

Similar to the pre-existing Omoda 5 and E5s design language, the new model features a dynamic side profile, forward leaning stance and sculpted lines, the Omoda 5 SHS-H’s design has a low drag rating, achieving incredible efficiency, perfect for drivers who value control, response and efficiency. In addition, the SHS-H receives a revised grill and bumper design, and fresh alloy wheel styling, giving it a slightly distinct appearance when compared to the other models in the range.

The Omoda 5 SHS-H is the perfect solution for both short trips and long-distance driving, offering incredible efficiency and convenience, especially if you do a lot of driving with over 650 miles on a full tank. Further benefits include not needing home or public charging, making it far more convenient for day-to-day use, lower emissions as the petrol engine is running less frequently, reduced wear on essential components such as brake pads and discs due to regenerative braking taking over the hard work and more.
