Jaguar reveals official name of new luxury four-door GT.

Following Jaguar’s Type 00 concept car unveiling during Miami Art Week, 2024, Jaguar has now confirmed the name for its production model – Type 01.

Jaguar ‘Type’ naming heritage dates back as far as the 1950s and 60s with the Le Mans race winning C-Type, along with D, E and S type models, with S-Type resurrected in the 2000s along with the introduction of the X-Type, and most recently the F-Type which ceased production in 2024.

Jaguar views the resurrection of the Type designation as uniting the brand’s history of innovation in design, technology and performance with the most advanced Jaguar ever. The ‘0’ represents electric propulsion and zero tailpipe emissions. ‘1’ denotes its status as the first model of Jaguars new era.

Jaguar Type 01 is set to be fully revealed later this year. Gerry McGovern, Jaguar’s former chief creative officer said when revealing the original Type 00 concept in December “I don’t believe in concepts unless they become a reality”, and the concept cars exuberant modernist design is expected to be carried over to the production Type 01 models.

With the Type 01, Jaguar is signalling more than just a new model, it marks the beginning of an entirely new direction for the brand. As anticipation builds ahead of the full reveal later this year, the Type 01 is already shaping up to be one of Jaguar’s most important launches in decades.
