Why choose the all-electric Omoda E5?

The Omoda E5 is an all-electric model, blending sustainability with style. Here are a few reasons why an EV could be the right choice for you, even if you haven't considered one before.

Range

When looking into EVs, you’ll see the term WLTP Range used. WLTP stands for Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure and is a globally recognised method of testing and assessing the range of Electric Vehicles. It’s designed to provide a reliable and transparent estimate of the range of an EV. However, the real-world range can be affected by various factors, including outside temperature, driving style, vehicle load, use of air con and heating as well as use of other features such as the stereo, heated seats, heated windows etc. but there are things you can do to optimise your vehicle's range if necessary. These include using the heated seats as opposed to the cabin heater as they use less energy, accelerating and braking gradually, and pre-cool or pre-warm your car using the Omoda app. That being said, the average daily commute in the UK is just 20 miles, so almost everyone will have more than enough range for day-to-day use.

Additionally, for peace of mind, Omoda offers a class-leading 8-year or 100,000-mile battery warranty, providing coverage against material or manufacturing defects. Any such defects will be repaired or replaced free of charge within the warranty period.

Living with an EV involves a different mindset than living with a typical petrol or diesel combustion car. With an ICE (combustion engine) car you would typically only fill up when you’re nearly empty, whereas with an EV, it's best to plug the car in to charge whenever you get home. Some energy companies even have EV-specific tariffs, allowing you to use very cheap power to charge your car during certain times. You can schedule your E5 to charge within these hours using the Omoda app. There are over 68,000 public charge points in the UK, and this number is only increasing every day. These public charge points tend to charge quicker than home chargers, and the E5 can be charged from 0-100% in as little as 45 minutes.

Running Costs

An EV is typically much cheaper to run, with the average charge for an EV being just 4-10p per mile compared to 13-17p in the average petrol car. EVs also have far fewer moving parts meaning no oil changes, fewer brake replacements due to regenerative braking, no exhaust system etc.  meaning maintenance and repair costs may be a lot lower than an ICE vehicle. Here at Duckworth Omoda we offer simple and cost-effective service plans to keep your Omoda on the road. This is available for all brand new Omoda vehicles, with 4-year plans available for our E5. The plan includes a full service, carried out by our expert technicians using only original, high-quality parts. Additionally, the plan of £599 inc VAT can be paid in a single payment or spread by paying monthly, and the service costs are fixed for the duration of the plan. Alongside the 8-year/100,000mi battery warranty, the E5 comes with a comprehensive seven-year or 100,000mi warranty, covering key vehicle components.

The E5 also benefits from being exempt from certain local incentives, such as congestion charges, and some areas even offer free parking for electric vehicles. They also attract lower taxation, both for VED (Vehicle Excise Duty) and BIK (Benefit in Kind)

Business Use

Electrifying your fleet offers significant savings, and not just in fuel, but also the employees' company car tax (BIK) and the employers' C1A NIC. Due to reduced tailpipe emissions, businesses can reach environmental goals as well as conform to local regulations and reduce their carbon footprint. By lowering your fleet's emissions, the fleet's Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is improved, reducing the fleets running costs. Interested to hear more about benefits for fleet and business?
