Supporting Work Experience and Young Talent

At Duckworth, we believe in investing in our community’s future, and that means supporting young people as they take their first steps into the world of work. We’re proud to offer meaningful work experience opportunities that give students a real insight into the automotive and business world, helping them build confidence, develop practical skills and explore potential career paths.

We regularly welcome students from local schools and colleges into our team as part of our work experience programme. These placements allow young people to gain hands‑on experience across various departments, from marketing and customer service to parts, administration and more. One of our current participants, Lily Maltby, is regularly joining us on Thursdays to assist the Marketing Team gaining real experience, learning new skills and contributing to important projects while discovering what it’s like to work in a dynamic business environment.

Work experience plays a crucial role in personal and professional development. It gives students a valuable opportunity to see how workplace skills such as communication, teamwork, organisation and problem‑solving come to life in a real job setting, helping bridge the gap between education and future employment. By working alongside experienced professionals, students can ask questions, observe day‑to‑day operations, and better understand the range of careers available to them.

Update July 2024: We are pleased to announce that following Lily’s work experience, upon finishing her A-Levels Lily has joined the team full-time as Marketing Assistant. This shows how invaluable the work experience programme is and bring real results.
