From the moment Jaguar announced it was creating its first ever all-electric vehicle, the I-PACE was destined to be a groundbreaking introduction to the motor industry, but nobody could have predicted just how impressive the plug-in SUV would grow to be.
Since its unveiling, which Duckworth’s were at the forefront of as the first UK retailer to host a launch event, the I-PACE has collected an incredible 62 awards for its design, innovation, efficiency and sustainability.
From rave reviews to accolades, the I-PACE’s success hit its peak last week when it collected the three most prestigious awards at the 2019 World Car Awards:
- World Car of the Year
- World Car Design of the Year
- World Green Car of the Year

There really is no better place to start than this award: World Car of the Year. This year marked the second time Jaguar has come away with the highly coveted award, with the F-PACE winning the 2017 World Car of the Year. Much like the I-PACE, the F-PACE also won the World Car Design award for that year, too.
The I-PACE made history for more than one reason at the ceremony, becoming not only the first vehicle to win all three aforementioned awards, but also the first EV (electric vehicle) to collect the World Car of the Year.
“The combination of sports car performance, exceptional refinement and true SUV practicality make I-PACE the stand-out choice in its segment,” write World Car Awards in their press release.
Chosen from a list of 40 vehicles, the I-PACE was one of three finalists for the award, which was decided by an international jury panel consisting of 86 automotive journalists from all over the world.
World Car Design Of The Year 2019
The second of I-PACE’s awards at New York’s World Car Awards ceremony was the World Car Design of the Year. Marking the third consecutive year Jaguar Land Rover has won in this category – having won in 2018 with the Range Rover Velar and in 2017 with the Jaguar F-PACE – the I-PACE was recognised for its head-turning good looks.
This particular category, according to the World Car Awards press release, is “meant to highlight new vehicles with innovation and style that push established boundaries.” The perfect summary of I-PACE’s dramatic, beautiful and premium craftsmanship.
From its spacious, modern and tranquil interior right on through to its elegant, aerodynamic exterior, the I-PACE offers excitement and beauty at every angle.
To be nominated for the World Green Car of the Year, “a vehicle had to employ some significant form of advanced technology specifically to enhance its environmental responsibility”. That’s certainly the case with I-PACE, which incorporates Jaguar’s tremendous innovation and groundbreaking technology to produce zero emissions, acceleration of 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds and an impressive range of 292 miles.
“We started with an ideal, to move towards our Destination Zero vision; zero emissions, zero accidents and zero congestion,” says Prof. Dr. Ralf Speth, Jaguar Land Rover Chief Executive Officer. “I-PACE is our first step to achieving this”.
European Car Of The Year
Yet another record for the I-PACE is the fact that it is the first ever car to win World Car of the Year AND European Car of the Year.
Jurors labelled the I-PACE the “most innovative vehicle among the CotY finalists”, “an advanced example of style and technology”, and “the first BEV which showed us what an electric car can really do.”
